The Presbyterian School’s kindergarten program provides a strong foundation for our students as they move into formal education, while continuing our philosophy. Two certified full-time teachers, five with Masters, in each of our classes facilitate learning by providing opportunities for the children to discover the world around them.
The Kindergarten curriculum encompasses the areas of Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and Art through an integrated curriculum using discovery and creativity. The children also experience Spanish, Music, Movement and Poetry for which specialized teachers provide instruction. Additional learning resources utilized are SMART Boards, Field Trips, Weekly Nature Observations, Weekly Library Visits, workshops, as well as parent volunteers for Artist/Musician of the Month.
The children love the hands on experiences they receive during their field trips. These active learning experiences are the culmination to various units of study–the visit to the farm was a favorite.
